Culture and family: food is more than fuel
Ask about cultural background and family situation. In a lot of cultures, the family sits around the table and eats together every night. For many of us, it's normal to serve up, take the plate to our room, come back for seconds, and never make a thing of it. Your reality is not theirs.
Sure, a client can eat their meal prep and sit at the table while everyone else shares the family meal. But how hard is that going to be when cooking and eating together has been the main way they connect with their family their whole life?
Food is more than fuel. It's culture. It's connection. Build the plan around the family table where you can, not against it: portion guidance on shared dishes, a protein anchor they add to the family meal, and structure on the meals they eat alone.
