Lesson 2.2

Add before you take away

Loom walkthrough coming for this lesson. The written version below is complete.

Massive overhauls are almost never the right answer. Make a few small adjustments and tidy up what they already eat.

Example. A client has toast with butter and a coffee for breakfast. Don't scrap it. Add good things to it: eggs and cottage cheese, with a vegetable or piece of fruit on the side.

Adding quality before removing anything works because removing feels like a slap on the wrist. Complementing what they already do feels achievable. They've lived and eaten a certain way for years. Who are you to tell them to live completely differently from Monday, when yesterday that way was comfortable and routine?

As good things come in, the old stuff starts phasing itself out. They feel better and fuller, so four slices of toast becomes two without a fight. Good things push the old stuff out.

Add before you take away. Complement before you change everything. Micro-adjustments over complete overhauls.
