Module 1: Coaching Philosophy & Understanding Your Demographic

Lesson 1.1

Look up from your phone

Loom walkthrough coming for this lesson. The written version below is complete.

Whether you like it or not, your clientele is the average person. Next time you're out, look up from your phone. The people at the café having brunch with friends. The people at the supermarket buying groceries. The person next to you in traffic. That's your client.

People are messy. They forget to brush their teeth, their undies have holes in them, they rushed out the door this morning and they'll probably do the same for the rest of their lives. Do you honestly think they're going to follow your perfect plan to a T? Your reality is not theirs. Their reality is your reality. Touch grass.

They're professionals, parents, business owners, students and expats. They already have full lives. They want to look better, feel stronger and trust that they're on a real plan, but they will not (and should not) blow up their week to chase a physique.

The job: deliver structured, visible progress without breaking the rest of someone's life.

The gap this course exists to fix

The biggest gap we see in the industry is high-performance methods and standards applied to people who have no interest in performing. Most Gen Pop clients don't want a stage or a podium. They want to feel a bit better about themselves naked.

When a recommendation is technically optimal but asks someone to weigh fish at a wedding, skip their mate's birthday cake, or do fasted cardio at 4:30am, it's the wrong recommendation for this client. There are coaches who specialise in that world. This course isn't about that world.

Gen Pop won't build their life around fitness

This is the single biggest mindset shift for most coaches. Gen Pop people will not orientate their life around training and food. Your job is to find a way to work fitness into their life, not the other way around.

That doesn't mean lowering the standard. It means engineering results inside real constraints, which is genuinely harder than coaching someone whose whole life already revolves around the gym.
